Positive language is an integral part of parenting. The type of language you speak to your children defines that how will they perceive this world as hostile or happy. Your language is important as gradually and unconsciously it becomes the inner voice of your kids. Before proceeding with positive language we should know what is negative language?

Negative language basically includes “NO” or “NOT”.

Further, it can be included

  • Stop
  •  Leave
  •  Don’t
  •  Quite
  • Won’t

such kind of language is mostly used to stop the kids and leave them curious without any clue which further makes their urges stronger to pursue that task. Now how come positive language makes the difference? When you use positive language with children then it means you are directing their behavior by telling them what you want them to be doing.

Let’s compare examples.
  • Stop Playing inside/ Playing ball is for outside. Please play some indoor games.
  • Don’t go/ stay here until I get back
  • Stop Shouting/ We can hear you without shouting please use your soft voice.
  • Stop crying/ I know you are hurt. Please sit down and let’s discuss.
Benefits of positive language
  • 1. Positive language reduces the overall negativity in communication and interaction, hence enhancing the family environment.
  • 2. It ensures the positive personality traits in your child so that during the tough hours of life they handle the situation confidently.
  • 3. It deducts the amount of discrepancy between parents and children so automatically strengthens the bond.
  • 4. Naturally install manners and etiquette in younger ones.
  • 5. Make kids more humble, gentle, and polite.

SECRET: “NO” is more powerful and effective when you use it infrequently.

Now the time for “CHALLENGE”

.
