Hi folks !!“ Many of you are going to laugh at the end when you will be done with reading this but MUST READ IT FOR YOUR ENJOYMENT!!!”
Disclaimer:: It is written totally out of my personal learning experience and the subject of copy write in any and all forms.
In today’s techno world everyone is a little or skilled engineer as handle many gadgets in a day. Everyone plays with these gadgets as they are familiar with short tricks (s) to use them.
Unfortunately or fortunately I’m not a techno-loving person. The real story is I met a teen guy who was with his elder brother. The elder brother was talking to me about him.
This teen named Aditya picked up my phone from the table in front of us. I noticed it but I was relaxed and allowed him as it was password proof. What can anyone expect if the password is there? NO ACTIVITY can be done(except emergency call). I was also expecting no activity can be done with it.
The elder brother & I was keep on talking. In the middle of our conversation, his brother stopped him by saying “beta mat karo”. I thought he is asking him not to touch my phone.
But actually, he was asking him to stop clicking pictures with the phone’s camera which was shocking for me as I’m not techno-friendly. (I didn’t even notice as I keep flashlight on-off).
By the time he stopped him he already clicked some 20 pictures. I even didn’t know that one can use the camera without entering the password though I’m using mobile for 15 or 17 years. Am I disable? He told me one new thing that day.
This is about my perspective toward the incident that I learned a different yet quick way to use a camera on a phone or should I take it as my disability because I didn’t learn to use this normal shortcut way? This teen was 11 yrs old guy with down syndrome.
His brother told me that he is familiar with this handset and likes to click pictures. Though it is a little thing I was completely amazed. Then bombardment of questions started in my head.
Are they actually disable?? Is this the right way to address them? Or are we the neurotypical people with the crown of normalcy on our head are disabled?? We the human are superior in all species because of our capability to use the brain. But actually, what do we do with this amazing organ?? We have used it to define everything. To bound everything in limits. To describe everything as normal or abnormal. The great author Oscar said it well TO DEFINE IS TO LIMIT. This is what we are doing with kids. If they don’t follow the classical way of learning things we call them disable or challenging ones but ACTUALLY They are NOT DISABLE they are differently able. They just learn things in different ways maybe sometimes better than normal people. It is US WHO ARE DISABLE WE THE NORMAL HUMAN who used our super brains in defining & limiting everything. Yes !!! we disable because we are not able to make them learn in the ways they are able. YES !!! They are challenging but to your brain as you have to scratch your head hard for ideas to make them learn. We are not able to see the other side of the coin. We are a frog of well because the only manner in which we do things that are normal to us rest is a disability. Parents also play a major role in this. Parents are the ones who make difference in this. These differently able angles are here to transforms our life in many ways(mental growth, spirituality, humanity) for good surely and I’m sure those who are involved with these angles know this very well and can tell you their transformation story in detail. It’s all about the perspective you hold towards them. Unfortunately, I met only a few people with this perspective. Now think about who is disable and who is able or differently able. Framing positively differently able !!! Happy parenting. NidhiIf kids do not learn in regular ways then they are disabled. This is what happening right now, we are normal humans, We are stick to the definition which makes us disable because we are not able to appreciate things in different ways.
